In case some of you have not seen me at the gym, I’m Holly and I have the gym open on Sundays. I’m starting a nutrition challenge for those interested and want to be held accountable. The goal is going to be geared around making new healthy habits!
First I want to put out that I don’t have a degree in nutrition but nutrition is something that I’m PASSIONATE about. Here is how I got started. At the same time I started Crossfit (5 years ago), we were also about to implement a Modified Atkins Diet for my son who suffers from seizures.
While doing my intro classes I sat with Katie and Zac (former trainer) in the back room and soaked up everything they were telling me about Paleo. I never once questioned the WHY we should eat that way, deep down, I just knew I NEEDED to eat that way and what perfect timing with changing Owen’s diet. Owen was only allowed to have 15 carbs a day. 15!!!! Think of trying to spread out 15 grams of carbs over a 12 hour day. It’s tough and Google was my friend.
So with reading Paleo books and Modified Atkins Diet books, I picked up A LOT! I’ve also learned a lot form other people such as our one and only Katie Hull.
Just to be clear this program is not going to guide anyone into a specific type of diet. I want it to create something that will work for them, so that it’s something they can stick with.
After changing the household meals, I noticed something pretty exciting…….I wasn’t tired all the time. I slept better. My clothes felt better, even though I had not lost a pound. Not 1 pound. That gave me positive reinforcement to continue on………but sometimes life happens and you get off track as I have done. So I want to help you and in return, your participation is helping me be accountable.
